YIN & YANG

Hi internet,

How are you? Are you drinking enough water? Are you doing things that make you feel good? Do you know what makes you feel good? It’s ok if you don’t. I don’t really either. Not consistently anyways.

I was working on something earlier this week that involved writing on the topic of balance. The brief included the yin & yang symbol, and somehow it didn’t feel cliche. It felt really cool and wise, and kind of like the only thing that mattered. I felt drawn to yin > yang, but I wasn’t sure why. Everytime I tried to write about it all that came to me was, “more yin, less yang”. I kept trying to reroute my thoughts to something else, something a little more nuanced. As hard as I tried, all I could hear was more yin, less yang.

This prompted me to do a little research. I performed a complex google search titled “yin & yang”, and started reading the first website that populated. This is what I learned:

Yin is expansive, yang is contractive. Yin is feminine energy, yang is masculine. Yin is fluid like the ocean, yang is sharp like a stone. Yin is even numbers, yang is odd. Yin is soft, yang is rigid.

Reading this, it all made sense. Everything came together.

I lost my yin.

More yin, less yang.

More yin, less yang.

More yin, less yang.
